ORL-BAL has organized, for the first time, a temporal bone preparation course for trainees of our Departments, with the participation of the Zurich University ORL Department. The concept of the course was to teach anatomy, with in-process demonstration of surgical landmarks.We were hosted by the Institute of Pathology of the Basel Medical Faculty. 16 trainees worked on 8 work stations for two full days, with the participation of 10 tutors, all experienced otologic surgeons. Every trainee had an entire formalinized temporal bone at disposition.
The course was intense and efficient due to the permanent presence of the tutors at the work stations. All trainees recieved an electronic copy of the manual one week before the course. The programme included an introduction on drilling technique, a presentation of the procedures to be performed on the first day, and a radiology session with quiz on the second. New instrument sets were graciously put to disposition by Karl Storz Co. and the microscopes by Leica Surgical. The evaluation of the course by both the trainees and the tutors was favourable, and we plan to repeat the course annually in the first week of September. Am 1. und 2. September hat die ORL-BAL den ersten Felsenbein-Präparationskurs für die Assistenten und Assistentinnen unserer Kliniken organisiert, unter Einbezug der ORL Universitätsklinik Zürich. 16 Teilnehmer konnten auf 8 Arbeitsplätzen an 2 vollen Arbeitstagen unter der Anleitung von 10 Tutoren an Formalin-Konservierten Felsenbeinen arbeiten. Alle Kursteilnehmer bekamen eine Woche zuvor das Manual in elektronischer Form zugeschickt. Das Konzept des Kurses war, die Anatomie in detaillierter Form beizubringen, wobei die chirurgisch relevante Landmarken im Präparationsprozess von den Tutoren erklärt wurden. Am ersten Tag wurden Bohrtechnik und Systematik vorgetragen, am zweiten die Radiologie des Schläfenbeins mit Quiz für Teilnehmer. Gastgeber war das Institut für Pathologie der Medizinischen Fakultät Basel. Die hervorragenden Instrumentensets wurden von der Forma Karl Storz & Co (via Firma Anklin in Basel) zur Verfügung gestellt, die Mikroskope stammten von der Firma Leica Surgical. Die Evaluation war, sowohl von seiten der Teilnehmer, als auch der Tutoren, ausgesprochen positiv, so dass wir jährliche Wiederholungen planen, jeweils in der ersten Woche des Monats September. U Bazelu je 1. i 2. septembra održan prvi kurs preparacije temporalne kosti. Organizatori iz ORL-BAL International su tako iskustva koja su skupili na kursevima u Novom Sadu i na VMA u Beogradu preneli na edukaciju švajcarskih specijalizanata. Program kursa je, kao i u Novom Sadu, u prvom redu bio orijentisan na sticanje znanja iz anatomije. Instrukcije o hirurüki značajnim strukturama i tehnikama davali su instruktori u toku rada. Kurs je organizovan u saradnji sa Univerzitetskom klinikom iz Ciriha, sa njihovim učesnicima i tutorima. Na raspoloženju su bili kadaverski preparati iz formalina, 16 učesnika radilo je na 8 radnih mesta, a svako je imao vlastitu temporalnu kost. Instruktora je bilo 10, sve iskusni otohirurzi. Instrumente je na raspoloženje stavila firma Storz preko svog predstvanika, firme Anklin iz Bazela, a mikroskopi su nam postavljeni od firme Leica Surgical. Domaćin nam je bio Instuitut za patologiju Medicinskog fakulteta. Evaluacija je pokazala da su kako učesnici tako i instruktori bili zadovoljni, pa smo odlučili da kurs ponavljamo u istom obliku svake godine u prvoj sedmici septembra.
