Lt. Col. Milanko Milojević is back in Serbia after a month’s stay at the Queens Medical Centre, University of Nottingham, where he was visiting Professor Nick Jones, Head of the Rhinology unit and widely known and respected specialist in sinus surgery, also author of several key publications and textbooks.
Dr Milojević has taken home very positive impressions, ranging from the warm and cordial welcome he had received up to the great amount of theoretical and practical knowledge he can now implement at the Military Academy Hospital in Beograd. Although he had performed FESS for some time now, he feels much better instructed to meet all eventualities in this field. Further contacts and educational events are planned between the two competence centres. Furthermore, Professor Gerard O’Donoghue, Head of Otology at the QMC has received Doctor Milojević as visitor in the OR for cochlear implant and vestibular schwannoma surgery. The Swiss Society of Friends of ORL has helped mediate the exchange.

Nakon jednomesečnog boravka u Nottinghamu, dr Milojević piše: „ Proveo sam najviše vremena sa profesorom N. Jones-om, video i čuo dosta toga što mi je jako pomoglo da jasno sagledam gde sam i dokle stigao sa endoskopskom hirurugijom i rinologijom uopšte. Naročito mi je drago što sam razrešio neke svoje dileme koje su mi se događale u praksi a za koje nisam mogao naći odgovor u knjigama i člancima.
Na primer, zašto se nekim pacijentima sa invertnim papilomom nakon medijalne maksileketomije posle par meseci pojavi polip u trepanaciji, vidi se neko vreme a zatim nestane. I od ostalih kolega sam doživeo više nego samo protokolarnu ljubaznost. To me je moram reči pomalo iznenadilo, s obzirom na našu uvreženu predstavu o “hladnim” Englezima. Sa kolegom Anshul Samom sam se viđao i van klinike koliko je to moguće, imali smo i jednu prijatnu večeru zajedno sa više mlađih kolega. Par dana sam proveo i sa prof. Gerry O’Donoghue-om koji je u dva navrata radio neurinom akustikusa i više kohlearnih implantata. Sve u svemu vrlo sam zadovoljan a neću reči ništa novo ako kažem da su ovakvi boravci više nego korisni.”
